After provisional registration, an optometrist wishing to be fully registered must undergo a mandatory twelve (12) calendar months internship in a Board accredited optometry clinic (public or private).
Requirement for Optical Trainee:
Prospective optical trainee must have been inducted into the Profession before proceeding for their optical training.
Prospective optical trainee must apply posting from the BOARD to their respective optical dispensary before commencing their optical training.
Their Supervisor(s) must be up to date with their license and must possess a minimum of 5years post-graduation experience.
The Optical dispensary or clinic they intend to carry out their optical training must be up to date with the board.
Optical trainees applying to government owned health centers/ hospitals must attach their letter of appointment with their application letter to the board for posting letter.
